a project of    The European strategy "Acting locally for employment" aims at tackling unemployment and at creating new, competitive jobs in urban as well as in rural areas in Europe. Since 1997, 89 Territorial Employment Pacts have been set up all over Europe.Predominantly, they are still in work. The European Commission and the European Parliament carried out a campaign for the local commitment to employment in the year 2000. This strategy will continue to be in operation in the year 2001.
